Innovation Dublin is a week long festival running from Wednesday 14th October to Monday 20th October. The festival is a key project of the Creative Dublin Alliance ( a collaborative organisation of businesses, third level institutions Government sectors and the not-for-profit sector). The idea behind the festival,is was to highlight what Dublin can be proud of (rather than focus on the currently v difficult economic times). Michael Stubbs, assistant city manager at Dublin City Council explained “We want to show the human side of innovation, the buzz, the creativity” .
The 200+ range of events scheduled for the week includes seminars, workshops, discussions and case studies: each event is themed around the key aspects of urban life listed below: Culture: Events that demonstrate how we live our lives through arts and culture, our streetscapes, modern and historic buildings and the creative use of public spaces
Public Realm:A celebration of the the active streets, quality public spaces, excellence in architecture, unique character traits and the spatial layout of the city:
People: Exploring the social pulse and spirit of the city through educational projects, communitiy activities, regeneration
Enterprise: Exploration of the city’s technological linkages, creative talent, spactial and sectoral clusters of specialisation and excellence
Environment: The principles embedded in the natural environment
